Barbara was born in Havana, Cuba, and immigrated to the United States, with her family when she was a baby. She grew up in a Church-attending home in Southern California, and accepted Jesus her Lord and Savior as a teenager. She earned a B.A. in Liberal Studies, and became a bilingual (Spanish-speaking) elementary school teacher. After teaching for 17 years, Barbara sensed that God wanted her to change careers. She then earned a M.S. in school psychology, and worked with children with special needs in the elementary school setting. In her spare time, she regularly led small groups and Bible studies at her home church. Barbara retired from education in 2017, and she and her husband Carl joined the Christian ministry, Youth with a Mission, where she received training in evangelism After working with this organization for a season, they moved to the Woodlands, Texas, in October of 2021 and joined Church Project. Since then, she has participated in three of the Seek and Find Bible Studies. Through these studies, she has learned more about God and has made connections with women of all ages and walks of life, and both have been valuable in her life.
